Borough Council of Wellingborough Facilitate Company’s Expansion in the Town

The Borough Council of Wellingborough have granted consent to the purchase of the lease on premises located on Sanders Road, Finedon Road Industrial Estate from the Random House Group by the Wellingborough based, Hampton Steel Ltd. This will allow the consolidation of premises currently occupied by Hampton Steel on London Road and the Denington Industrial Estate. The new facility which extends to approximately 82,000 sq ft will provide Hampton Steel, manufacturers of steel wire fencing and cold formed steel sections, with the opportunity to further expand their operations and the addition of up to 20 new jobs. Chris Durham, Chairman of Hampton Steel and its parent Findlay Durham and Brodie Ltd, is delighted with the development, a move that will facilitate the company’s complete relocation during 2015. ‘This signals the largest investment made by the FDB Group since its inception’, he said, ‘and will complete Hampton’s transition from importers to manufacturers and exporters’.

Hampton’s continued commitment to the retention of their Wellingborough base is testament to the excellent distribution links this central location provides, a real contributing factor towards their strong growth in UK and export sales.

Stephen Battersby of Underwoods who act on behalf of the Borough Council of Wellingborough commented that this is a significant development which not only secures but adds to employment within the town and re-utilises a significant facility which has remained vacant since it became surplus to Random House’s requirements some time ago.
